Gay Friendly Canada

Our 5th annual edition

Quebec City, the intriguing, old-world style capital of the province of Quebec, is celebrating its 400th  anniversary in 2008. In addition to the Carnaval de Quebec in February, and the annual Summer Festival, there is a full year of exciting events taking place to mark the historic occasion, when Samuel de Champlain first set foot on shore in 1608.

Quebec City also enjoys an active LGBT scene, with a good assortment of gay pubs, bars, dance clubs, saunas, restaurants and more. The gay area is focused in the Faubourg St-Jean area near the gates to the old city. Liquor service hours are very liberal throughout the province of Quebec, so the fun continues into the wee hours nightly. There is no other place like Quebec City on this side of the pond, and it is well worth a visit.

Montreal

Montreal, the second largest French-speaking city on the planet, is an exciting, cosmopolitan city, which exudes joie de vivre!

World-renowned as one of the hottest gay party destinations anywhere, with spectacular annual events that include, Red at Valentines, Hot & Dry in May, Divers/Cité Festival late July/August, Celebrations de la fierte Montreal (Montreal Pride) in August, the Black and Blue Festival in October, and the Bal des Boys on New Year’s Eve.

Le Village, Montreal’s world-famous gay village, is the largest of its kind in North America, and is considered by many to be the sexiest. Centrally located, within walking distance, or a short Metro ride of the downtown business district, the rainbow-coloured posts at Beaudry Metro station serve as a landmark that lets you know you have arrived. Le Village has its own perceptible gay vibe, and offers a wide range of boutiques, restaurants, cafes, bars, mega-club complexes, a selection of saunas, gay specific smaller hotels, bed-and-breakfasts, as well as major hotels within easy walking access.
