With influences from the original aboriginal nations, early European settlers, as well as a multicultural mix of many others in recent years, the Atlantic region has a great diversity, which includes a thriving LGBT community.
Halifax has the largest LGBT infrastructure, with an established club scene, community organizations, and seven days of celebrations for the 20th anniversary of Halifax Pride in 2008. Halifax is also a popular port of call on the international cruise ship circuit, and it was in the news that R Family Vacations will be returning once again in 2008, along with Rosie O’Donnell and 2,000 guests. Prince Edward Island Pride is celebrating their ten-year anniversary, with a full calendar of events, including the rainbow flag-raising ceremony at Charlottetown Town Hall, and Power Party, the hottest event in the history of PEI Pride, being held at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. In addition to these and other LGBT events in the region, the Atlantic Provinces offer an outstanding array of mainstream events, activities and adventures to keep you captivated throughout your stay.
